December 30, 1944 – April 22, 2025

Bernie Bottomley passed away at home on April 22, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on December 30, 1944, in Rye, East Sussex, England, he attended Brixton School of Building in London. He graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering and went on to work 20 years for The Austin Company before transitioning to a career in the newspaper industry. He first worked 10 years for Times Mirror Company before establishing his own company for 21 years until retirement at the end of 2018. Bernie was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.

Moving to Breckenridge in 2002, Bernie and his wife Judy loved their 20 years living in the mountains. They entertained many friends and family over the years and were proud supporters of Breck Music, the National Repertory Orchestra and The Summit Foundation. They loved hiking and skiing but also fancied travelling the world – often aboard cruise ships that took them across the Seven Seas, the rivers of Europe and even to the Galapagos Islands and Antarctica.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; son Andrew (and wife Diana); son Peter (and wife Alyna); and granddaughter Lily. The family asks that you please consider a donation to Parkinson Association of the Rockies in his memory.
