Obituary: Charles Fields

Charles Russell Fields Jr. of Dillon Colorado died peacefully on January 18th, 2025, at the age of 81. Russ was born in Greenville, North Carolina on November 18, 1943, where he lived until graduating from East Carolina University. It was here that he met the love of his life, Patricia Louise Lane (Tish) who preceded him in death. Russ is survived by his brother Gary Fields who resides in Falls Church, Virginia. Russ and Tish have two sons, Charles Russell Fields III of Silverthorne, Colorado and Todd Christian Fields of Breckenridge, Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Carson Patrick Fields, Morgan Devereaux Fields, Colby Harding Fields, Jaxon Joseph Fields and Weston Wallace Fields.
Russ attended East Carolina University where he played offensive guard for the Pirates. After graduation, Russ and Tish were married and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He attended The University of Baltimore Law School and co-founded Simmons and Fields, a successful law firm that remains a prominent practice.
Russ had a deep commitment to his wife and two sons, whether it be attending lacrosse games, wrestling matches or supporting Tish’s art, he was always present. He was an active and dedicated member of the Boumi Shriners of Baltimore and loved his unit, The Magic Carpets. Once retired, Russ and Tish moved to Summit County, Colorado to be with their growing family. Russ had a passion for skiing and nothing gave him more joy than being on the slopes with his children and grandchildren.
Russ’ passion for life and unwavering integrity will be remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 09 S French Street Breckenridge,
Colorado 80424 will be held February 20, 2025, at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
