Obituary: DON BUCKALEW

Donald Preston Buckalew, born February 4, 1937 to Geneva and Arnold Buckalew of Augusta, Kentucky passed the summer of 2024 at his home in Montrose, Colorado.
Don was born in a small fishing boat on the Ohio River. He attended Western Kentucky State business college. Graduate school was from University of Oklahoma school for commercial lending. After serving a 4 year Army career in Germany he returned to Oklahoma City and became the Sr. Vice President, and Chief lending officer of a large bank. He was quite proud of making the loan to “The Kentucky Colonial” to start his chicken business. A ski trip to Colorado led to his long- time home in Frisco where for many years he worked with Frisco Re-Max helping many people fulfill their dreams of mountain living. Running became his passion. He completed the Imogene Pass run from Ouray to Telluride 5 times as well as other numerous runs. Having no living family, he is survived by his long-time friend Corkie Ramey of Gypsum, Colorado.
