Dr. Don A. Linger passed away peacefully with his family on Dec. 19, 2018. A native of Denver and the Medano-Zapata Ranches in the San Luis Valley, Don was both a rancher and a Ph.D. civil engineer in his lifetime. His career spanned working with Werner von Braun at White Sands Missile Range, professorship and chairmanship of the Civil Engineering Department at Notre Dame University, consultant to the Department of Transportation for technology interchange with the Soviet Union, distinguished service at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency for the Department of Defense and consultation to DTRA as a Highly Qualified Expert after retirement.
Don is survived by his wife, Dianne Chisholm, brother, George, children, Kevin, Chris, Steve, Andrea and Ted as well as grandchildren, Jami, Jennifer, Michael, Heather, and Gracie, and greatgrandchildren, Lucas, Vaughn and Ella. Don was an avid sailor and skier and was known for his wonderful ranching stories.
