Obituary: Eric Groves
March 4, 1985 – November 13, 2024
Eric Peter Groves 39 of West Fargo, ND formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away at Sanford on Broadway, Fargo on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from leukemia complications.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Eric was born on March 4, 1985, to Peter and Annette Groves. He attended St. Joseph’ Catholic School, Central Middle School, and Devils Lake High School, graduating with the class of 2003. He graduated from UND in 2008 with a Degree in Marketing.
From there Eric’s career started with a sales job with the Grand Forks Herald, next a move to Frisco, Colorado as Director of Advertising with the Summit Daily News. His next move took him 3000 miles north to Anchorage, Alaska to be Director of Advertising for the Anchorage Daily News. Finally, his last move took him on another long road trip to Fargo, ND where he was Director of Advertising for the Fargo Forum/Forum Communications.
Eric was a free spirit, the life of the party and always had a smile and handshake for everyone. He was an adventurer. He loved to hunt, fish, hike, downhill ski, golf, and until the end, still played hockey two times a week.
Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents Aloys and Angela Mastel, uncles Lloyd Mastel and Roger McNeil.
He is survived by his parents Peter and Annette (Mastel) Groves, Devils Lake; brothers Garret (Alysson) Groves, Devils Lake and Daniel (Amy) Groves, Grafton ND; nieces/nephew Reiss, Emma, Joslyn, Kate, Bria and Carson; paternal grandparents Garland and Marlys Groves, Anoka MN; aunts and uncles Andrea and Mark Gausman, Andover MN, Pat and Sue Groves, Lake City MN, Jim and Laurie Groves, Red Wing MN, Andy Groves and Jeff Duffen, Minneapolis MN, Joe and Stacy Groves, Pierz MN, Amy and Jordan Wingate, Candle Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, Marilyn and Duane Baer, Confer CO, Bernadette McNeil, Fargo ND, Monica and Robert Dale, Aurora CO, JoAnn and Francis Brager, Maple Grove MN, Glenn and Marit Hordvik Mastel, Fargo ND and Wayne and Felica Mastel, Wahpeton ND and many cousins.
