Judy Girvin passed away on August 3, 2023. She lived in Breckenridge with her husband Bob for over 50 years, raised her family there, and contributed to the community in immeasurable ways.

Born 1940, to Dodie and Lee Bingham, she was raised in Northfield, Illinois, attended Farm School, graduated from New Trier High School, and attended Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Summers were spent in Colorado at the Holzwarth Neversummer Ranch (RMNP), where she first met Robert Girvin. Married in 1960 and living in Northbrook, Illinois, they moved to Breckenridge in 1972.

Judy helped organize the Gathering at the Great Divide, Chautauqua, and the return of Ullr Fest in 1978. During terms on Breckenridge Town Council, she was instrumental in creating the Riverwalk and the Recreation Center.

Judy’s enterprises including opening the first fruit stand in town, and the Bay Street Company, with her mother and sister Candice, elevating the shopping experience on Main Street for over 30 years.

She is survived by husband Robert M. Girvin IV; her children: Leigh Girvin (Carl Scofield), Robert Girvin V (Laura Jacobs), Alexander Girvin (Jane Deegan); granddaughters Sofia and Sydney Girvin; siblings Candice Van Runkle and John Bingham; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the Imperial Ballroom at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge.
