Obituary: Scott L. Carpenter

Scott L. Carpenter

April 19, 1956 – Aug. 15, 2014

Scott Carpenter passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 15. Scott, a longtime Summit County resident and avid outdoorsman, was a gifted builder as evidenced by his many projects throughout Colorado. Scott arrived in Aspen in 1976 where his interest in becoming a craftsman bloomed while building customs homes in Snowmass. Raised in Ottawa, Kansas, Scott is survived by his parents, Barbara and Robert, his sister Cara, of Gardner, Kansas, and a large extended family. Scott is also survived by his loving partner, Julie Noyes Long, her daughter, Rachael, and a community of close friends. An enthusiastic collector and fierce bargainer, Scott will be remembered for his sense of humor, his creative spirit and his love of vintage objects and architectural antiques. Scott had an uncanny ability to transform the drab and mundane into the unique and memorable. A celebration of his life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Colorado Open Space Alliance.
