Obituary: Stephen Robert McCammon

Stephen Robert McCammon

October 18, 1944 – March 6, 2014

Stephen Robert McCammon, of Silverthorne, Colo., died peacefully at his second home in South Carolina, on March 6, 2014, after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Born in Denver in 1944, Steve attended Lakewood High before graduating from Amherst College in 1966, later earning a PhD in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1970. He lived in The Marshall Islands and England before returning to Colorado in 1980, where he continued his successful Systems Engineering career. He then retired to Summit County, where he was active in the Bridge community. His many other loves included skiing, hiking, 4WD, camping and reading. His greatest love was his family, including wife Tammy; three children: Kim (Mark) McStravick, Dr. Megan (Scott) Burke, and Dr. Robert (Seah) McCammon, and seven grandchildren. A “Celebration of Life” will be held this summer. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to the Summit County Senior Center.
