Tom Simpson

Aug. 27, 1948 – March 23, 2014

Tom Simpson, known by the U.S. Marine Corps as Eugene Thomas Simpson, passed away on March 23, 2014.

He was best known for his infectious laugh, which was marred but not silenced by the ravages of lung cancer.

Tom learned how to talk in Arkansas but always considered Colorado his home. After years of traveling as a sales manager, he settled down in Silverthorne to teach fly fishing and work at Resort Express (CME) as a dispatcher and driver.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, N. Henry Simpson and Virginia Watkins Simpson, of Little Rock, Ark. He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Heidi (Daetwyler) Simpson of Silverthorne, his sons Tommy (Suzanne) Simpson of Dallas, Texas, and Justin (Selina) Simpson of Lubbock, Texas, his siblings; N. Henry (Melanie) Simpson of Dallas, Rebecca Haines of Denver, and Mary (Scott) Ladwig of Midland, Texas, his former wife, Kate Nordyke, and his Aunt Sara Galloway of St. Louis, Mo. His best friends in numerous adventures: the Perkins family — Bill, Christie, Cole and Ryan and Ed and Carolyn Crist. He will also be loved and remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list. Finally, he will be missed by his bedside companion for the tough nights, yellow Lab Lucie and the hairball cat, BW. Please lift a glass of fine single malt scotch or throw a fly line in honor of his memory. Details of a Celebration of Life will be determined at a later time.
