Obituary: Karen Crawford

Karen Lynne Crawford, 40, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 14. She was the daughter of James and Patricia Crawford of Portsmouth, N.H. Karen was born on July 21, 1972, in Portland, Maine. She attended school in Kennebunk, Maine, and graduated from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. After graduating college, Karen and many of her college friends moved to Colorado. Karen immediately fell in love with the mountains and all the people she was to meet there. For the most part she lived in Frisco. Karen became part of the tapestry of Frisco and was loved as much as she loved all of its residents. Karen was a beautiful and spiritual girl. She was champion of the underdog, and disliked anything mean. She had a quick wit and shining smile. She will be missed by all.

Karen is survived by her sisters Deborah Crawford of Wells Beach, Maine; Susan Crawford and her daughter Evelyn of Nottingham, N.H.; many aunts, uncles and cousins and a multitude of friends. But, she will also be sorely missed by her beloved companion dog, Bella. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held in Frisco shortly and in Portsmouth, N.H. in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Summit County Animal Shelter, or to Andy’s Fund at the New Hampshire SPCA.
