Olde English Madrigal Feaste is this weekend
Wes hail, ye Lords and Ladies Fair!
I beg thee heed my call,
The King is hosting a sumptuous feast,
And bids you come, one and all!
The Performing Arts Department of Summit High School will present the 6th Annual Olde English Madrigal Feaste on Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday beginning at 5:30 p.m., and held at the Elk’s Lodge in Silverthorne. The Madrigal Feaste is an Old English-style dinner, in the tradition of castles, kings and knights of yore. The costumed singers, players and musicians will present traditional songs such as “The Gloucestershire Wassail,” “The Boar’s Head Carol” and “The Flaming Pudding Carol,” as each course of the meal is served, each heralded by a brass fanfare, and much pomp and circumstance.
The king who will rule over the evening’s festivities, is none other than King Scott Price, the Valiant and Brave, accompanied by his royal court.
Woven through the evening, a fun and farcical play will be performed, presided over by the Jester and King. A brief concert will then be presented by the cast.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for children under 12, or a table for eight for $300, and are available from choir students, at the high school office, or by calling (970) 547-9311 ext. 1150, or (970) 485-0225. Some limited tickets will be available at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Performing Arts of SHS.
