Olympics history presentation scheduled for Feb. 23

FRISCO – A vivid presentation on the history of the Olympic Games – touching on nude athletes and more – is scheduled for Feb. 23 at the Summit County Community and Senior Center.

Daniel Taylor, professor emeritus of classics at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisc., is to “present a lavishly illustrated slide presentation taking the audience back to the origin of the Olympic Games in classical Greece,” according to a Cafe Scientifique news release.

Humorous anecdotes about ancient athletes with philosophical reflections on the nature of athletic competition are to be included.

The free presentation is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and refreshments and beverages are to be served.
