On the Spot music

KIMBERLY NICOLETTIsummit daily news

Who: On The Spot Trio When and where: Wednesday at The Goat Tavern in Keystone; March 12 at MotherLoaded in Breckenridge Where’d the name come from? We came up with our music on the spot, and the name just kinda stuck. Home base: Santa Cruz, Calif. Type of music: Funk, rock, jazz, rhythm and blues – mainly music you can dance to. If your music were a tangible item, what would it be, and why? I can imagine it being an orange, very sweet with a tight package. Why do people love ya? We play music that they can dance to, and we bring great vibes out every night so everybody in the room lights up. How do you keep it fresh? We try and make each night a different experience in the tradition of jazz where every solo is different and jams spur up on the spot. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done/weirdest experience? The craziest thing we have done was to fly out to the East Coast to record our first album with one of our favorite drummers, Alan Evans from Soulive.
