Opportunities to celebrate Black History Month available locally and in Denver

The Barney Ford House Museum hosts the children’s story hour Thursday at 5:45 p.m. with Grandpa Tom reading stories about the Underground Railroad, historical figures and other aspects that celebrate Black History Month. There will be free pizza and beverages at this event that is open to the public.The Barney Ford House Museum is located at 111 E. Washington Ave. Call (970) 453-9022 for more information.In Denver, the Black American West Museum is offering free admission Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guided tours called “We Tell It Like It Was” take visitors back in time. There are also films to watch and a museum scavenger hunt. Call (303) 292-2566 to R.S.V.P. for the tours. Museum is located at 3091 California St. in Denver.
