Orchestra’s benefit concert set for Sunday

The Summit Community Orchestra will host its second annual Holiday Benefit Concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Summit High School Auditorium. Dr. Kenneth Evans will be the conductor. The concert will benefit the instrumental programs at the local middle and high schools. Last year, the organization was able to give the schools $3,000 through generous public donations. The program will feature dances from the Nutcracker Suite with the Summit Community Orchestra and the Summit School of Dance. The orchestra will also perform holiday songs with the Summit High School orchestra, and seasonal favorites, including selections from Handel’s Messiah, with the Summit Choral Society. The concert will feature small musical ensembles from both schools. The concert is free, but donations are appreciated to benefit the schools’ instrumental music programs. The concert will be followed by an hors d’oeuvre reception.
