Overnight parking now available in Frisco area for late-nighters

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

FRISCO – Police have designated overnight parking spaces on Seventh Avenue for customers of late-night restaurants and bars.

Workers added signs on the northeast side of Seventh Avenue that specify overnight parking in spaces adjacent to Triangle Park.

Other overnight parking is available at the West Main Street trailhead parking area near the Interstate 70 exit and along the perimeter of the public lot at Fourth and Granite behind the Colorado West Mental Health building.

Police Chief Tom Wickman said the spaces on Seventh Avenue were added as overnight parking to give patrons of Main Street bars and restaurants a place to leave their cars in case they need an alternate ride home after imbibing alcoholic beverages.

“We want our guests to feel that they don’t have to get in their cars after drinking. It’s OK to have a friend move your car off Main Street onto Seventh Avenue or one of the other lots. Then they don’t have to worry about getting towed or getting a DUI,” the chief said.

Wickman emphasized that overnight parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. is still prohibited on Main Street and the side streets in the town’s central core.
