P.E.O. announces scholarship opportunity for local women

The P.E.O Organization, Chapter FU, a philanthropic and educational organization, recently announced the opportunity for young women in Summit County to apply for a $1,500 continuing education award. The application package deadline for submittal to the P.E.O. Award Committee is June 30.P.E.O. supports women’s education through scholarships for Summit High School students, graduate students and low-interest loans for women who are returning to school for education or completing degrees. The Anne Scott Memorial Fund is available to women who are: Summit High School graduates; residents of Summit County; current students of an accredited, full-time, four-year academic program or masters program; have a grade percentage average of 80 percent minimum; are involved in extracurricular activities; demonstrate interest in the award; and show financial need.Application packets should include: a short letter to the P.E.O. Award Committee describing yourself, your interests and activities, and an explanation of why you need the award; two letters of recommendation from adults outside of your family and/or local P.E.O. membership; a transcript of college grades; and proof of enrollment.P.E.O., Chapter FU, raises money for scholarships through local dues, fundraisers and donations. The continuing education award is made possible each July by the Anne Scott Memorial Fund and is administered by Chapter FU, P.E.O. of Breckenridge. P.E.O. is a national philanthropy.
