The beloved mascot of Loveland Ski Area and the honorary mayor of Georgetown — Parker the Snow Dog — passed away on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, according to his owner, Dustin Schaefer.
Schaefer serves as Loveland’s marketing manager and often brought Parker — a Bernese Mountain dog — along with him for volunteer work and other unique events. According to Schaefer, he and Parker were involved in a car accident near Kremmling on Christmas Eve during an ice fishing trip.
Parker passed away from his injuries; he was 8 years old.
“He touched so many lives and brought smiles to countless faces — whether through his volunteer work with kids and adults with disabilities or simply by sharing his warmth and enthusiasm at Denver Broncos games,” Schaefer said. “He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
Parker became the official mascot for Loveland Ski Area in 2017 and soon after was sworn as the honory mayor of Georgetown in Feb. 2020 according to the town of Georgetown website.
