Patrol investigates accident that killed cyclist

BOULDER – The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a collision between a dump truck and bicycle rider that killed the cyclist.

State Trooper Heather Cobler tells the Boulder Daily Camera that the accident occurred around noon Friday at an intersection in the north Boulder area.

The Boulder County coroner’s office has identified the cyclist as 73-year-old Eugene Philip Howrey of Boulder. An autopsy will be performed.

Cobler says a dump truck hauling a trailer hit Howrey when the driver turned left. She says the accident is still being investigated.
