Paul Sims: Dupuy column lacking civility

Paul Sims

Tina Dupuy’s stream of consciousness rant left me staring blankly at my computer screen, wishing I could regain the two minutes of my life it took to read her column. Even by the loose standards of satire, Dupuy lacks the wit, and the attention span, to knock down her own straw men.

What happened to the language of civility the left was so prissily concerned about after the Arizona shooting? Is Dupuy showing us bitter, non-“progressive” types the direction she wants our political conversation to go in? If so, we free-thinkers had better tread carefully, lest we risk a lampooning from Dupuy and her flurry of liberal-inciting buzz words (Sarah Palin! Koch Brothers! FOX News! Yeeeeaaargh!) when we don’t conform to her ideals.

But two can play at that game. The fact that Ms. Dupuy is an award-winning author shows how ridiculous things can get if we live by the liberal tenet that everyone is a winner.
