Peggy Hiller: McHose has done his homework

Peggy Hiller

As a parent of three children in the Summit County School District, I plan on voting in the Nov. 3 school board election, and one of the candidates I will definitely be voting for is J. Kent McHose. McHose, who has been a Silverthorne resident of seven years, has served on both the School District’s Accountability Advisory Committee and the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee and spent time in all of the district’s schools. As a retired executive of a nationwide retailer, McHose understands how organizations work from supporting the people in an organization to managing complex financial aspects. More importantly, he is a father of five grown children and is deeply committed to what he calls “the formative years of person’s life; when they are going through K-12 grades.” He is especially focused on opportunities to improve academic performance for students in the Summit Middle and High Schools.

I served many years with J. Kent McHose on the church council at Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church and understand his level of commitment and dedication to both Summit County and any organization with which he becomes involved. He is thoughtful, innovative and passionate about our community.

I encourage you to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3 for our Summit County School Board and I encourage you to vote for J. Kent McHose.
