Penny drive was a success

C. WolsieferSummit Middle School

On behalf of the Navigator team of eighth graders at Summit Middle School, we would like to thank the community for its support of our recent penny drive to support tsunami victims. Although we did not reach our ultimate goal of 300,000 pennies (one to represent each tsunami victim), we did raise $1,037 for the Unicef Tsunami Relief Fund. We would especially like to thank Wells Fargo Bank of Frisco for patiently running all those pennies through their counting machine and Julie Sutor at the Summit Daily News for her story and follow up.
