Phibbs’ nondisclosure tips scales to Minor in the county sheriff’s race

Ken RiceKeystone

It appears that former jail Capt. Mike Phibbs is the only one legally able to disclose why he was fired by Sheriff John Minor. His reported reason for nondisclosure is that the cause for firing is untrue and he does not want whatever it is published about him.Think about the logic of this. Most public figures experiencing an unjustified firing would want the public to know the truth. In fact, the more incriminating the reason(s) were, the more most would want to clear their name. As long as Mr. Phibbs refuses to explain his side of the story, suspicion or at least mystery remains. I cannot vote for a sheriff candidate who leaves me in doubt with a cloud like that. Minor should get our vote on Aug. 10.
