Photo of neighborhood fox puts wild friend in jeopardy

Please, please consider the rights of our wild neighbors to live out their natural lives in peace. By letting everyone know exactly where to find the Milne Park fox in Breckenridge, the Summit Daily News (Feb. 13 lead photo) has provided a license to kill.

While some people may have been charmed by the story of the little red fox who lives in our midst (foxes are far more adaptable than humans), others get their jollies by destroying the innocent and the beautiful in the name of “sport” or “fun.”

I have studied, photographed and written about red foxes for more than 20 years. They are not fur products, they are not objects for target practice. They are children of the universe, like us.
