The International Snow Sculpture Championships have returned to Breckenridge, and teams from all over the world are busy creating works of art from 25-ton blocks of snow.
The competition, which takes place in downtown Breckenridge, allows artists to use only hand-tools to create their works of art. Teams spend five days sculpting the blocks of snow, this year from Jan. 20-24.
Viewing week for spectators lasts from Friday, Jan. 24, until Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Breckenridge Tourism Office encourages spectators to view the sculptures Sunday, Jan. 26 through Jan. 29 when reservations are not required. Reservations are free but are required on Saturday during peak times, midday.
