Community members gathered at the Silverthorne Pavilion and Enza’s Delicatessen and Market on Friday, Feb. 7, to celebrate Noche de Candela and the Lunar New Year at Silverthorne’s First Friday Wish Lantern Festival. Attendees decorated lanterns with their wishes for the coming year, enjoyed salsa dancing lessons and music from Remezcla and created “Year of the Snake” crafts with Frosted Flamingo during the event. Decorated lanterns were released into the Blue River and collected downstream by members of the Swift Water Rescue Group, according to a news release, to celebrate Noche de Candela and the Lunar New Year at Silverthorne’s First Friday Wish Lantern Festival.
