Pile burning set to take place in Breckenridge paused due to deteriorating conditions

Slash pile burning that was set to take place at the Airport Road Open Space on Airport Road in Breckenridge on Monday, Nov. 25, has been paused.

Summit Fire & EMS, the U.S. Forest Service, Grand Fire Protection District and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office were planning on partnering with the town of Breckenridge Open Space for the slash pile burning, and ignitions were expected to begin around 9 a.m.

Conditions were favorable, but now crews have called off the burn due to unfavorable conditions.
