Pit bulls are no more dangerous than other dogs

I volunteer at the shelter here in Summit County. I spend most of my time with the pit bull/pit bull mixes, and these dogs are no more dangerous than any other dogs. They have been unjustly labeled because of a few bad owners. There has never been a single mauling case in Summit County by a pit bull. So why are there people in our community rushing to judgment? I have prided myself on living in a community that is highly educated and reluctant to jump to conclusions about anything. Please do not start now.The extraordinary staff at our shelter does not place any pets with people they have doubts about. Before judging these dogs, or any others, I would hope the members of this community would educate themselves on this breed and all other breeds that have worse track records concerning attacks and/or bites. And I would like to invite them to volunteer at the shelter. It may be an eye-opening experience.
