I enjoyed Adam Boffey’s Feb. 8 article in which he attempted to disprove the adage that “there are no friends on a powder day.” I found the whimsical and warm story well-written. It left me wishing I had gotten out for a few turns that morning. However, I think he tacitly provided more robust support for his anti-thesis than his thesis. By his own telling, he had bonafide ski buddies heading to Copper (10 inches fresh) and Breck (11 inches), but he chose to ski alone at A-Basin (12 inches). The fact that he ditched his friends to share lifts with amiable unknowns at the resort with the deepest powder is the real moral of the story: powder trumps friendship.
