Police: Man holds teenage daughter hostage, attempts suicide

COLORADO SPRINGS – A Fountain man is listed in critical condition in Colorado Springs following a standoff with police that lasted nearly six hours.Police say the 39-year-old man held his 13-year-old daughter hostage for several hours before releasing her to officers at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday.Fountain police Sergeant Jess Freeman says SWAT team members lost contact with the man after that. About an hour later, SWAT officers went into the family’s home and found the man had cut his wrists and throat.He was taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.Freeman says it’s still unclear why the man held his daughter hostage.The girl was not hurt.
