Police seek six-toed suspect in theft

BRECKENRIDGE – Police are hoping someone has seen a man suspected in the theft of furs and leather from a Breckenridge store – a man who possibly has six toes on one foot.

Officers were called to James’ Fur and Leather Store in Main Street Station Saturday after an employee caught two women allegedly attempting to steal merchandise. According to the employee, the two women left the store with three furs and a pair of sheepskin slippers underneath their clothes. The employee stopped the women outside the store and recovered the items, but while his attention was fixed, another man left the store with a leather jacket, according to police reports.

According to the Breckenridge Police Department, several similar thefts have occurred recently in Breckenridge and Pitkin County.

The witness described the man as about 6-feet-1-inch tall, 230 to 250 pounds, with a receding hairline and bald spot in the rear of his black hair, and of Middle Eastern descent. The man was last seen wearing shorts and sandals, and he might have six toes on one foot.

The female suspects, also possibly of Middle Eastern descent, both had their dark hair pinned back. One wore a gold jumpsuit, and the other wore a flowing black robe. The suspects might be driving a gold or silver sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevy Avalanche with New Mexico license plates.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Susan Quesada at the Breckenridge Police Department at (970) 453-2941. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Summit County Crime Stoppers at (866) 453-STOP. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that helps solve crimes in Summit County.
