Prediction: Spampinato will be vindicated

The school board’s poor handling of the whining of a few teachers who were upset about positive change in the curriculum has led to the termination of an excellent superintendent.

The ineptitude of the board’s action is certainly not in the best interest of the school district, the community and most importantly the students.

After terminating Lynn Spampinato in this manner, what makes the board think it will be able to hire a replacement of her caliber?

What person in their right mind would want to work for a school board that will terminate them if a few teachers complain about his or her management style?

As a result, the new superintendent will not be an advocate of necessary improvements to the quality of the curriculum, and the quality of education will be compromised.

Further, terminating the current superintendent will require paying in full her current contract and paying a second salary to the new superintendent.

Is this fiscally responsible with the currently tight budget? I, for one, will not support a tax increase to bail out the board for such an irresponsible act.

The school board, with the exception of Stuart Adams, should collectively resign. If those members do not resign, maybe a recall is in order.

Once they are gone we can elect a new board that is fiscally responsible, will work to improve the quality of education within the Summit School District and be responsive to the needs of the whole community – not just a few who are afraid of a little positive change.

I think Lynn Spampinato will be vindicated when the new CSAP scores are released by the state.
