President Ford Tree Lighting Ceremony returns to Vail

Daily News staff report

At 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 former President Gerald R. Ford and his family will once again celebrate the holiday season in Vail at the 30th Annual President Ford Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Ford, a part-time resident of the Vail Valley who turned 90 this year, will light Vail’s signature, 40-foot tree during the town’s traditional holiday ceremony. The ceremony also will include holiday wishes from local celebrities, musical performances, caroling and will culminate in the lighting of the tree.

Ford and his family, nicknamed Vail’s “first residents,’ have been coming to Vail for 35 years and have been active participants and supporters of the local community.
