Prices between Home Depot and local suppliers

Evan KellyFrisco

Let’s talk about what everyone is thinking. Home Depot is cheaper than local business. This year, I built my straw bale house on a tight budget. I priced all my material out between Home Depot and local lumberyards. Local business won almost every time. Do not be duped into “loss leader” pricing that Home Depot uses. I paid the same price (as Home Depot had) for lumber and received a higher grade of material from Bighorn Lumber, as well as same day delivery. Also do not forget customer service. Home Depot has dismal service. The “Pro desk” was uninformed and to busy to return several of my materials bids, as well as hard to find floor help. When I did place an order for delivery it took four days and an $85 delivery fee.Supporting your local businesses supports your neighbor’s livelihood. Please vote “No,” support local businesses that do offer fair pricing.
