The new management group behind The Block Hotel & Commons, formerly known as The Pad, is continuing the spot’s annual Pride month celebration, and organizers are shooting to make it even more robust.
The June 21 event marks the fourth Pride celebration the community’s hub has hosted and features an 11-hour-long day filled with activities and performances.
Director of marketing Abbey Arlt said the new management group, Crestline Hotel & Resorts LLC, is continuing to team up with nonprofit Mountain Pride and plans to add more to the already jam-packed day.
“Every single aspect of this is philanthropic. From ticket sales to bar sales to donations to the dollar bills that are thrown out at the (drag kings and) queens, every single bit of that is accounted for and given to our two beneficiaries, which are Mountain Pride and Bee The Vibe this year,” she said.
Bee The Vibe is Mile High Behavioral Health harm reduction program aimed at promoting and providing safer solutions for sexual health and substance use.
In terms of tickets, 100% of proceeds go to the beneficiaries. For bar sales, 5% of proceeds go to beneficiaries.
Pride at The Block starts with DJ yoga at 9 a.m. on the back lawn with musician Between Realms and instructor Kat Johnson. Yoga lasts until 10:15 a.m. and includes complimentary House of Vibes Coffee and Curio offerings and/or champagne and kombucha from The Block Bar.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be the family friendly vendor fair with numerous activities and vendors. There will be face painting, tattoos, a bounce house, glitter beards, a beauty bar with a chopping block salon, a cold plunge and sauna, tarot card readings and more. MOJO Juice, Rocky Mountain Taco, LowBrow Mobile Eatery and Salvador’s Pizza will have food trucks at the fair as well. There will also be local resources onsite from ARISE Summit Advocates, Mountain Pride, Summit County Libraries, Theatre SilCo, Bee the Vibe and Mile High Behavioral Health Center.

The Charity Turnabout Drag Show is up next from 7-11 p.m. featuring five locals alongside professional drag queens performing with live DJ Between Realms. This is the first year the event will have drag kings, locals Consuelo Redhorse, who is a member of the Summit School District Board of Education, and Sarah Terrill.
“They’re super excited about it. Sarah, in particular, had a double mastectomy and she is feeling really excited about like bearing her chest and showing support, not only but for women who are dealing with breast cancer and the scary reality of that,” she said.
General admissions tickets to the event cost $40 and can be found at Events.Humanitix.com/pride-at-the-block/tickets. The Block is located at 491 Rainbow Drive in Silverthorne. For more information about Mountain Pride visit MountainPride.org/about-us/.
