The Summit County Open Space Advisory Council (OSAC) will discuss a draft management plan for the Iron Springs Open Space at 6 p.m. today at the County Commons near Frisco. The Iron Springs Open Space comprises approximately 30.5 acres of highly visible meadows and forest located on the west side of Highway 9, between Frisco and Farmer’s Korner, just north of Summit High School. The intent of this plan is to identify allowed public uses and management direction to provide for sustainable enjoyment of this property by the public while protecting the open space values for which Summit County purchased the property. The OSAC will be accepting public comments on the draft plan tonight. Written comments can also be submitted for OSAC consideration prior to the meeting. The OSAC will forward management recommendations to the Summit County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). The BOCC will consider these recommendations and adopt a management plan for this property at a future public meeting.
