Public meeting tonight on Frisco master plan

JULIE SUTOR

FRISCO – Frisco residents will have the chance tonight to offer their views on Frisco’s future. The citizen advisory committee to update Frisco’s master plan will host an open house at town hall this evening to gather input on the draft plan it has been developing for many months. The policies, principals and goals contained in the master plan will serve as guidelines for the town’s decision makers on topics like growth and development, transportation, economic development, arts and culture, recreation and environmental sustainability. The town updates the master plan every five years.”We now have a draft plan, so the focus of the meeting will be to have folks look at the action items, give feedback and tell us if we’re missing anything,” said town planner Jocelyn Mills. Some of the action items in the draft plan include:– Review the town standards for water quality protection to ensure it provides adequate preservation of wetlands, lakes and riparian areas.– Consider permitting retail uses on the first floor with office and/or residential uses on the second floor in the Central Core area.– Continue to investigate private/public partnerships to provide additional affordable housing utilizing town-owned lands. The committee will compile information from tonight’s open house to incorporate into a final draft for council approval by the end of the year. For more information, contact Mills at (970) 668-5276, ext. 3031, or at jocelynm@townoffrisco.com.Julie Sutor can be reached at (970) 668-3998, ext. 203, or at jsutor@summitdaily.com.
