Raising money for wounded soldiers

Corey Smith is a U.S. Army veteran and the founder of Help a Wounded Soldier Project, a new organization supporting injured soldiers.

To raise funds for building a new snowboard binding system for the wounded soldiers, Smith is holding raffle drawings throughout this week and next, leading up to a July 4 final drawing. Prizes include: a Playstation 3, XBOX 360, Amazon Kindle and a gift certificate for a Dillon Reservoir pontoon ride. Tickets are $5, and winners will be notified by telephone July 5. To purchase tickets, meet Smith at one of the following locations:

* Today starting at 9 a.m. to about 4 or 5 p.m. at Walmart in Frisco

* Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at Vista Auto Group in Silverthorne

* Monday at 9 a.m. to about 4 or 5 p.m. at Walmart in Frisco

More dates and times might be added. For more information about the drawings, or the organization, go to http://www.hwsp.org.

As a Summit Daily News reader, you make our work possible.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
