Re-elect DelPiccolo

Tim Glasco

Silverthorne is at a crossroads, and the direction we travel soon will be decided. May 7, Silverthorne voters must choose between two candidates for mayor that will determine the fate of our town for years. One leader, Mayor Lou DelPiccolo, represents progressive, controlled and planned growth that will benefit the citizens of the town in many ways.

Mayor DelPiccolo’s path will answer our need for an in-town grocery store on one of the few sites still available. It also will provide attainable housing for many working families. A day-care and elementary school site will be provided, which according to the Summit School District, is their preferred location.

Playgrounds, connecting pathways, and open space also will be provided as part of this development for use by all town citizens. It is in the best interest of town citizens to move forward with this development.

The path the other candidate is advocating is an inward approach that is regressive and limits our growth, while providing few benefits to our town. This path may also be economically disastrous for those whose livelihoods are associated with service, construction or real estate industries.

We have much to be thankful for in our community. For the past four years we have benefited from Mayor DelPiccolo’s leadership: the new town pavilion, a new skateboard park, additional trails and park improvements, Blue River Parkway improvements, the wetlands ordinance, a new Target to name a few.

We have been developing our town at a controlled, thoughtful pace and are now just beginning to feel like a community.

Please vote to keep Mayor Lou DelPiccolo in office to continue the work of building Silverthorne into a town of which all of us can be proud.
