A mountain goat makes use of the bike trail near Copper Mountain, about a half mile off Main Street.

Recently I hiked down the recpath in Tenmile Canyon, as I came around a curve a group of cyclists were pulled off the trail feverishly snapping photos of the rock formation that rose from the canyon floor. A closer look revealed a family of mountain goats, two adults and three babies, meandering up the rocky terrain.

As unique as this experience was for me, it was nothing new for Summit County. Over the past couple months Summit Daily readers have submitted images of adults and kids roaming the mountains, watching hikers as intently as we view them.
