Real Estate at a Glance: Land Sales – Through October

CHUCK LEATHERS

With 58 lots sold to date in 2010 and 3 months left to go, it looks like land sales may beat last year’s 68 total sales. Land prices are pretty well even with last year’s as well, now standing at $335,000.

There are no signs that banks are loosening construction money, but obviously there are some cash buyers out there looking for land bargains.

There were 2,379 properties for sale last week and just over 900 sales so far this year. Looks like we’ll beat last year’s 1,067 at least.

Real Estate Fact

of the Week

$495,900… average sale price for land in 2008, the peak year for land prices.

32.5%… decline in average land sale price from 2008.
