Real Estate At A Glance: Single-family home sales for the week of Jan. 15, 2011

CHUCK LEATHERS

Three more single-family homes sold in 2010 than in 2009 matching the 10 percent increase in sales of the total market. The average sale price fell for the first time in at least 20 years to $866,700, largely due to a drop in $1 million plus home sales and increased sales of lower priced homes during the first-time buyer tax incentive.

There were about 1,800 properties listed for sale last week as the inventory goes through its seasonal decline.

2143… number of expired and withdrawn listings in 2010

920… number of expired and withdrawn listings in 2007
