Real Estate At A Glance: Total 2010 land sales

There were nearly 30 percent more lots sold in 2010 than the year before.

The 87 lot sales averaged $291,600, down 10 percent from 2009 and 41 percent from the peak year in 2008.

The number of sales remains well below normal. Many of these sales are for cash and buyers are building custom homes to keep. The spec home business is still dead. If the inventory of exiting homes continues to drop, new home building may begin again, especially with land at bargain basement levels.
