Real Estate At A Glance: Total Summit County sales

Chuck Leathers
Special to the Daily

The year is three-quarters done and our market continues to improve. Average prices are up by 5 percent and the number of sales is over 9 percent higher. Buyers are betting real money that our economy, at least in Colorado, will continue to improve. If Congress doesn’t torpedo us in the next 90 days, there will be over 1,400 sales this year, 13 percent more than last year and nearly 50 percent more than 2009. Prices will increase for the first time in three years.

There were fewer than 1,900 properties listed for sale last week, the lowest October inventory since 2010.

90 … number of sales for over $1 million to date 2012

78 … number of sales for over $1 million to date 2011 – 15 percent fewer
