Red, White & Blue Fire District holds annual recognition banquet

The Red, White & Blue Fire District honored their own this past weekend at a recognition banquet held at Beaver Run Resort. Staff, board members and their families gathered to celebrate promotions, service time and special awards. Approximately 100 people attended.Former fire chief, Virgil Davis, was recognized posthumously, for his contributions to Red, White & Blue, as well as a moment of silence to acknowledge his passing this year. Board President Randy Griffin offered words of appreciation to the staff, and reiterated that the entire board was proud of this District’s accomplishments.Chief Green and Deputy Chief Lori Miller presented longevity awards for five, 10 and 15-years of service. Five-year awards were given to: Battalion Chief Russ Austin, Driver/Operator Brett Bonenberger, Firefighter Tim Caldwell, Captain Andrew Hoehn, Finance Officer Carmen Modglin, Firefighter/Paramedic Jeff Nordeen and Driver/Operator Ryan Peters.10-year recipients included Captain Matt Benedict, Captain Jason Kline, Driver/Operator Eric Kuhn, and Firefighter Chris Scovil. One 15-year award was presented to Battalion Chief Skip Bergbauer.Deputy chief Jay Nelson, battalion chiefs Skip Bergbauer and Kim Scott, captain Matt Benedict and Driver/Operator Angelo Lodice were all recognized for their promotions in rank.The following staff members were acknowledged for their contribution to Red, White & Blue Fire District:Jackie Pike was presented with the Support Staff Member of the Year Award, for her continued dedication, passion and caring to the members of Red, White & Blue, as well as the community we serve. She has been with Red, White & Blue for over 20 years.John Zeising won both the Firefighter of the Year Award, as well as the Barrie Niebergall Peer Leadership Award for his hard work, dedication and exemplary leadership within the organization.Battalion chief Neil Rosenberger was the proud recipient of the Courage, Commitment, Caring Award, which is given to a staff member for their continual effort to affect the community in a positive manner and carry forward the spirit of Red, White & Blue Fire District.Dedicated Service Awards were given former Firefighters Todd “TJ” Johnson and Steve Webster for their years of service to Red, White & Blue Fire District.Chief Green presented the Chief’s Leadership Award to the apparatus specification committee as well as the wildfire mitigation division.”It’s important to this organization and to the Board of Directors that our staff is reminded how valuable they are to us,” said Chief Green. “We are very fortunate to have the employees we do, and they make meaningful contributions to this community every day,” he said.
