Referred Measure 1A deserves yes vote to improve Summit County

I urge Summit County voters to vote yes on Referred County Measure 1A, the extension of the mill levy to fund capital projects.

Without raising taxes, Measure 1A would provide funding for an improved recycling facility at the landfill, continued open space acquisition and maintenance, a community care clinic and additional local water storage.

A recycling facility at the landfill would allow for more efficient processing of materials for recycling, increased diversion of waste, and more convenient recycling for Summit County’s citizens and visitors.

By diverting more waste from the Summit County landfill, we can lengthen the life of the landfill by 13-30 years. Every year the landfill life is lengthened will delay the more expensive options of either siting a new landfill or hauling waste out of Summit County.
