Body found in car pulled from Colorado valley in 2-day operation that closed Colorado mountain pass

OURAY, Colo. — The Ouray County Sheriff’s Department says a man’s body was found in a car that crews extricated from a rugged valley.

The department identified the man as Jin Junge of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Junge’s brother, Jun Junge, told The Associated Press that Jin Junge had been on vacation. He reported his brother missing to the sheriff’s department on Feb. 4.

Searchers combed an extensive area and found the car in the Uncompahgre River, 400 feet below U.S. 550. The road over Red Mountain Pass was closed for six hours Wednesday and another six hours Thursday as crews raised the car.
