Bong, not bomb, causes scare at Boulder bus station
BOULDER, Colo. — Police say a suspicious device that led to the evacuation of Boulder’s downtown bus station turned out to be a bong.
Police spokeswoman Kim Kobel told the Daily Camera newspaper that a guard discovered what he thought might be a pipe bomb Tuesday morning. She said the foot-long plastic pipe looked suspicious because it was capped at both ends but marijuana was found inside.
Kobel says it appears that the bong was just forgotten at the station and wasn’t intended to scare anyone.
The discovery came a day after white powder that turned out to be harmless was sent to two Jewish organizations in Boulder County.
The area surrounding the bus station was also briefly shut down while police investigated.
