I-70 closed near Floyd Hill for emergency rock fall work

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. — Getting to and from Colorado’s mountains from the Denver area will be difficult because of some emergency rock fall work being done along Interstate 70.

I-70 was closed in both directions near Floyd Hill on Thursday so crews can bring down rock in danger of falling. The closure between Beaver Brook and Hidden Valley began at 10 a.m.

There’s no estimate of when the highway could reopen because workers aren’t sure how much rock they will bring down and how much they’ll have to clean up.
