Lift evacuation for 90 skiers and snowboarders at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
JACKSON, Wyo. — About 90 skiers and snowboarders had to be evacuated from a disabled ski lift at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
No one was injured during the two-hour evacuation Thursday that involved the use of a rope harness system to get people down from the chair lift. The highest point on the lift is about 35 feet above the surface.
Resort officials say the lift stopped operating because of mechanical issues. Mechanics are working to repair the lift, but it wasn’t immediately clear when the lift will re-open because parts had to be obtained from the manufacturer.
Resort spokeswoman Anna Cole tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide (http://bit.ly/1BW5tO8 ) that the evacuated skiers and snowboarders received a refund for their day ski tickets in addition to a complimentary ticket for the future.
